Three people, including two kids, seriously injured in wreck

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says one man and two children from Cameron were injured in a single vehicle wreck over the weekend.

The Patrol says 31-year-old Evan Hummel wrecked on 69 Highway, one mile south of Pattonsburg, at 7:55 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities say Hummel was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand AM that crossed the center of the roadway, overcorrected, spun out of control, traveled down an embankment, hit the ground, and overturned several times.

Hummel, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected out of the sunroof, and taken to Truman Medical Center of Kansas City by LifeLight Eagle with serious injuries.

Also in the car were two 12-year-old boys, who were wearing their seatbelts, that were transported to Children's Mercy of Kansas City with serious injuries.
